Tapia Fonseca holds meeting on economic transformations in Holguín

Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, on Monday held a meeting with authorities, producers, and representatives from global economic and legal organizations in the Holguín province to discuss socioeconomic transformations, specifically those contained in Thematic Area 7, aimed at incentivizing agricultural recovery.
The meeting was attended by Joel Queipo Ruiz, First Secretary of the Party in Holguín, officials from these organizations, and Idael Pérez Brito, Minister of Agriculture. They clarified questions to facilitate understanding of the 176 measures, 162 of which have a direct impact on the country's agricultural and forestry activities. The measures also encompass the business system, banking and financial institutions, and organizational structures.
Tapia Fonseca emphasized the comprehensive nature of the five transformations related to land, the greater autonomy granted to the cooperative and peasant sector (now on equal footing with other economic actors), marketing, the possibility of creating input markets to ensure production with foreign capital or joint ventures, and the agricultural development fund, located in the banks of the provinces.
Holguín is the eleventh province where this broad exchange process is taking place. The meeting, in addition to serving as a gauge of the implementation of the transformations, also allowed for listening to opinions and clarifying doubts, based on the experiences gained with facilitators, the Deputy Prime Minister stressed.
