Vice Prime Minister urges action for territorial development in Banes

“The municipality has autonomy and it is very important to generate income that contributes to its development,” said the Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, Inés María Chapman Waugh, in her speech at the XVI ordinary session of the XVIII mandate of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power of Banes, which took place this Thursday.
In the exchange with the delegates of that Holguín, which she represents in the National Assembly of People's Power in her capacity as deputy, Chapman Waugh stressed the importance of establishing priorities, stages, indicators and goals to compare how progress is made from one year to the next.
Regarding the discussion of the budget for the current year in the municipality, it was learned that it reached a surplus and, in relation to this the importance of increasing the figure achieved to contribute to municipal growth, in pursuit of popular well-being.
In the case of public health, more than 283 million pesos will be allocated to ensure basic services to the population in hospital institutions, including primary care, the maternal-child program, intensive care and treatment for patients with psychiatric disorders, among others.
For education, it is planned a figure of more than 219 million pesos, which ensures the operation of the 114 educational institutions in Banes and the permanence of students and workers.
Chapman Waugh recognized the value of producing with the use of science, technology and innovation, to find solutions to the problems existing in the country, making it very clear that the unity of all the Cuban people will always be a powerful strength to face the challenges.
As part of the exchange with the delegates at the assembly, other issues concerning municipal operations were also raised, such as the need to strengthen the system of attention to the population and the on-site verification of the guidelines to ensure their compliance.
The importance of protecting cultural institutions, creating more spaces for young people and following up on the works carried out by the people’s councils, with the support of community groups and the people in general, with the purpose of building a better Banes, was also addressed in the meeting.
