University alliance promotes PhD training in Holguín with Belgian support

The University of Holguín has launched an international partnership this week to strengthen advanced research and consolidate its doctoral school in eastern Cuba.
The initiative is being developed through the CRISSS project, which aims to build research and innovation capacities and promote smart service solutions.
The program will allow 15 Cuban professionals to pursue doctoral studies under a sandwich model, with stays in Cuba and Belgium and the possibility of obtaining a dual postgraduate degree. The participating institutions are the University of Holguín, KU Leuven, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and Hasselt University.
The cooperation receives financial and logistical support from the Flemish Interuniversity Council (VLIR-UOS), which will facilitate academic and scientific exchanges over the coming years. In addition to benefiting the participants, the project seeks to contribute to Cuba’s scientific and technological development. (Source: Radio Angulo)
