12th Encounter of Poets in Cuba "La Isla en Versos"concludes in Holguín

The XII Meeting of Poets in Cuba " La Isla en Versos ", dedicated to Latin American poetics, concluded today at the Casa de Iberoamérica in the city of Holguín, with readings by important national and foreign poets and storytellers.
The event was attended by the Colombian poets Claudia Guzmán and Ricardo Ramírez, the Chilean poetess Catalina Lorca Lagos, the Cuban authors Luis Gabriel Sánchez and Katia Batista Machín, whoc presented texts from her collection of poems Fuga.
The Argentine Jorge Alacevich presented his book Stars of ink: the zodiacal signs of writers, a book, in his words, controversial, since its invites the reader to mix literature with astrology on a journey through the world's great writers.
Lines from the anthology Poesía sin fronteras (Poetry without borders) were read by Spaniards Ángeles Lencería and Francisco Pérez, a bilingual text that seeks to show poetry that is alien to the Hispanic public due to distance, language and culture.
Holguín writer and designer Roberto Ráez read his novel Versiones de la traductora, winner of the 2024 Calendar Award in narrative. The text, divided into two parts, alludes to the detective genre with the search for a mysterious translator who finds herself in the shadow of two men, a writer and an editor.
Andrés Cabrera, a storyteller from the province, brought to the space the story “Las parrandas del mes de mayo”, from his novel Al son de la caravela. The book is set in Holguín in the year 2901, where its inhabitants live in a dystopian future that invites to laugh and reflect.
The Encounter of Poets in Cuba “La Isla en Versos” is a space celebrated in the instances of the Romerías de Mayo that allows the confluence between Spanish-speaking poets who share their works and, above all, their experiences in the world of literature.
