Photos: Carlos Rafael and ACNThe 36th Holguin Culture Week began here with an opening gala with the performance of renowned local artists, after postponing its official inauguration due to the persistent rain in eastern Cuba.

The event is dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the death of Major General Calixto García. In this regard, outstanding director César Hidalgo Torres announced the production of a series by RTV Comercial, Producciones Cubarte and the Cuban History Institute, which will include the detailed biography of the Holguin patriot.
The Culture Week is also dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the creation of the system of culture centers, essential in the democratization and updating of cultural values.

Special guests were Argelio Cobiellas, outstanding artist of plastic arts and Jesús Téllez, promoter, to whom the event is also dedicated.
Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, member of the Central Committee and first Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Holguín and Julio César Estupiñán Rodríguez, president of the Provincial Assembly of the People's Power, accompanied the people of Holguín during the evening event.

The agenda for the event also includes the great concert on January 17 awaiting the 266 anniversary of the granting of the Title of City and Tenure of Office, the event of Studies on Wars of Independence, on January 18 and 19 and the delivery of the City Awards, January 20.
