The 30 inalienable rights of the human being were proclaimed with the aim of respect. The international community has a duty to support and defend these rights, which are the foundations of a just future for all, as recognized by our First Law, which establishes: the cult of Cubans to the full dignity of man.
These rights are universal, eternal, innate and indivisible. Everyone has these rights, no matter what kind of person we are. They are unbreakable, mandatory and, under no circumstances, can we exchange or renounce them.
Knowing them is important, but putting them into practice every day is a real challenge. Here are some testimonies from men and women from Holguín that show the work of the Cuban State in favor of respect for human rights.

Eloísa Isbelis Gomarrona Salas, a young woman who since the age of 10 has lived in the Home for children without family protection No. 1, in Holguín. She currently studies at the University to become a professional.
“Every child at the Hogar must thank to the Revolution. In few places in the world care is provided to children like us, a place to live, with people who dedicate their time to us and where good food is not lacking. We are privileged because we are prioritized in everything.
The young mother Aurora Guerrero was benefited from a type I house in the community 30 de Noviembre in the Industrial Zone of the municipality of Holguín.
“When you compare this house with the one I had before, it is like overnight. The floor was dirt and had no electricity. I couldn't even sleep peacefully for fear that someone would come in and mugged me. This new house is something incredible for me and my husband. "

Freddy Zaldívar also lived in darkness and today helps blind and visually impaired people. His work is an example of the right to equality and improvement.
“The ANCI in Holguín asked me to work in its Tifloinformatics Laboratory, which are technologies adapted to people with visual disabilities. I have students who are eager to learn, and the courses allow them to learn how to navigate the Internet, use keyboard commands, and interact with Windows objects.
I have very demanding users, with their own computers and access to various contents, such as music, video, books and games aided by a program created by me. I try to live up to their expectations to support them using these technologies”.
RIH, sanctioned for the crime of Theft, in Cause 162 of 2002 by the Provincial Court of Holguín. Today he is a Self-Employed Worker.
“I committed a crime and I was tried for it, I had the right to a lawyer and to all the guarantees that justice provides. They sentenced me to three years of deprivation of liberty, of which I served 16 months in prison, because for good behavior, they gave me the option of working on a farm in the Jucarón area, which I accepted very willingly, because they paid me a decent salary and it was a way to financially support my wife and daughters, whom I used to see on Sunday visits. There was always total respect for my rights and those of the rest of the prisoners.”

The 37 years old Marisely Verdecia Valdés, peasant owner of land associated with the Cooperativa Ñico López of Holguín.
“I dedicate mainly to cattle rising. There is no rest because in agriculture everything depends on work and effort. I wish prosperity for my country and good luck for the Revolution, which respected my right to be a property owner, a right that I inherited from my parents and grandparents, who were poor people that benefited from the Agrarian Reform. I belong to the ANAP by choice, because it is vital for the development of the peasantry, for the integration of rural women and all social actors, as the best solution to problems in peasant communities”.
Since its very beginning, the Cuban Revolution has strengthened the dignity of its people and laid the foundations for a more just and equitable society in accordance with what was expressed on December 10, 1948, 72 years- ago today when the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
